James V. O'Brien handles a wide variety of litigation work in commercial dispute resolution and a number of subspecialty areas, including admiralty, environmental and health care law. As a certified public accountant with an advanced tax law degree, Mr. O'Brien brings a deep business background to his commercial litigation practice. But over the years, his practice has broadened to include the subspecialty areas mentioned. His work has taken him to a variety of litigation venues around the country. While he regularly practices in federal and state courts in eastern Missouri and Southern Illinois, he has been in trial courts and appellate courts around the country, and even had the opportunity to argue an important matter before the U.S. Supreme Court. Committed to his practice, Mr. O'Brien has authored articles in his areas of interest.
