Diversity Statement

Lewis, Rice & Fingersh, L.C. is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering a work environment that is inclusive of all employees, regardless of race, gender, age, religion, ethnicity, socioeconomic background and sexual orientation. The Firm recognizes and appreciates the differences ‎each person brings to our practice of law and the breadth of ideas, values and perspectives that are ‎generated as a result. We believe that by creating an environment where value is placed on these differences, we are positioning ourselves to best serve not only our clients, but our community as a whole.

Lewis Rice strives to attract and retain a diverse workforce. In the St. Louis office engage the diverse law student community through our support of and participation in the Diversity Clerkship Program and the St. Louis Diversity Job Fair, our support of the local Black Law Student Association events, and our serving as mentors to the diverse law students in our community. The purpose of the Diversity Clerkship Program (“DCP”) is to expose first-year law students from a diverse range of backgrounds and ‎experiences to the legal interviewing process, and to gain work experience within a law firm, corporate legal department or public service organization. The long-range goal is to increase diversity in all sectors ‎of the legal community in St. Louis, including groups that traditionally have not been well-represented in ‎our community. We also participate in and sponsor the St. Louis Diversity Job Fair each year. We support ‎the Fair’s goal of attracting a diverse group of second- and third-year law students to the metropolitan St. Louis legal community, encouraging them to practice law in the area, and becoming an integral part of ‎our community. Our Kansas City office is an active supporter and participant in the Heartland Diversity Job Fair sponsored by the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association.

Women at Lewis Rice enjoy numerous leadership roles at the Firm, including long-standing service on the Firm's Management, Recruiting and Associate Development Committees. Lewis Rice actively supports the mission of the Women Lawyers’ Association of Greater St. Louis (“WLA”). The Firm has partnered with the WLA to provide support for events and institutions that assist women in obtaining positions of influence and leadership within the legal community. Women attorneys at the Firm are encouraged to participate in the WLA and similar organizations.

Lewis Rice recognizes that alternative work arrangements provide opportunity to retain talented attorneys who require flexible and part-time schedules. ‎Multiple attorneys take advantage of the Firm's generous Reduced Hours Program.

We consistently make significant efforts to promote diversity within our firm and our legal, educational and metropolitan communities. These initiatives underscore our effort to attract a diverse workforce and benefit from the energy and originality diversity brings.
